WISDOME_TEKNISKA MUSEUM_HACKATON

Throughout spring 2024, Tekniska Museum organized a hack event with selected artists of diverse backgrounds to explore the dome using light, video, and sound within Wisdome Stockholm, which is a geodesic dome equipped with state-of-the-art AV technology.

THE HACK

We started the day by getting to know each other, visiting the dome, and having a showcase of a few possibilities within the space.
From there we spend the afternoon  conceptualizing, building and we had a time slot for testing for an evening ending with a showcase of everyone's experiments.

The aim of the hackaton was to help build frameworks, documentation  and a network of artists to set the space for in the future create a new stage for experimental and AV performances, installations, light shows, and more.

CONCEPT

Organic Bubbles - Audioreactive AI generated.
was a collaborative piece with the Hungarian musician Juli Deak.

Using organic bubbles as a conceptual piece to represent rebirth was a symbolic idea. Bubbles are ephemeral and delicate, reflecting the transient nature of life and the potential for new beginnings.

PROCESS

I asked Juli to describe her sound/music - and she said “Organic” - we decided to make a recording of her playing so I set up Live for recording, and tweaked the sound for use in the visuals.
While she was playing I envisioned these werdly shaped bubbles taking over the dome.
So I made a 3D Rendered in C4D and used Runway to generate the video, passed it through Touch Designer to make it slightly audioreactive, and live rendered for the settings of the dome projection from there.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Throughout this Hackaton, I gained knowledgable insights of dome technology, and possible visuals that work better for that shape and form, as well as I undertand better the current technology available at Wisdome.
For future reference I would love to explore and with 360osound, and when Touch Designeris available I would love to build an interactive piece.
